There are two main types of operable conditions:
– Scoliosis of an adolescent at the end of growth in whom the curvature of the spine continues to evolve.
– Degenerative scoliosis, which affects, in particular, post-menopausal women whose deformation is unstable.
In both cases, the surgical technique is virtually identical and consists of approaching the spine from behind, arranging screws and bars, reducing the deformation, securing the spine on several levels and fitting a bone graft.
